                    On March 15th, Pearl Jam announced that their sixth studio album, Binaural, was going to be released on May 23th. The band co-produced the album with Tchad Blake, who has worked on albums by Crowded House, Los Lobos and Richard Thompson along with partner Mitchell Froom. That same day, The Rockfords album was released in Japan. The 'Silver Lining' single had as also "Flashes", and the unreleased track is titled "Heart in Your Hands". Pearl Jam publicist Annie Ohayon announced on March 17th the North American tour schedule, as well as an upcoming appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman on April 12th. Although no opening acts were decided by this time. On March 20th, Pearl Jam announced that they were going to play a free club concert at the venerable Commodore Ballroom (capacity of 1150 people) in Vancouver, BC on Thursday, May 11th, 2000. Tickets were given away exclusively by Vancouver rock station CFOX FM -- no tickets were sold. On March 25th, Steve Turner announced that The Monkeywrench will open the two London PJ dates at the end of May. The Monkeywrench -  Mark Arm and Steve Turner (Mudhoney, Mr. Epp, Green River), Tim Kerr (Poison 13, Big Boys), Tom Price (Gas Huffer, U-Men), Martin Bland (Lubricated Goat,Bloodloss). On March 30th, Dismemberment Plan announced that they will open for Pearl Jam in Europe this summer, representatives for both bands said. Pearl Jam's outing kicked off May 23 in Lisbon, Portugal, with the Dismemberment Plan joining them June 14 in Prague, the Czech Republic. The shows run through early July.

                    "[Pearl Jam] got in touch with us a few weeks ago to see if we were interested. I almost blew it when I misdialed the number for their management company and got an Indian restaurant and figured that it was, indeed, a prank", Travis Morrison, singer/guitarist for the Washington, D.C., group, wrote on the band's Web site.
